Housing and Transportation
You're looking forward to experiencing your summer at UW, but can't imagine how you are ever going to find a place to live, or how you'll get around in Seattle. No need to worry. We have the information you need to find a place to live and get you to where you are going this summer.
Housing
Most students who attend Summer Quarter live on campus or in surrounding areas. For those who would like to live on or near campus during the summer, UW Housing and Food Services provides several options. Information about campus housing during Summer Quarter, including housing rates and an application you can download and print, is available at the UW Housing and Food Services site.
For non-University housing options in the University District and surrounding areas, the following Web sites may help in your search:
For shorter stays, the University does provide Conference Housing options.
Transportation
Seattle and the University of Washington offer a lot of opportunities for you to explore with just as many options for how you'll get there.
By Car
Although the University encourages alternate forms of transportation, many students have to drive to campus. For information concerning where to park, carpooling and parking fees visit: www.washington.edu/commuterservices.
Enrolled students receive a discount for parking by presenting their Husky Card™. To see if you qualify or for more information, visit hfs.washington.edu/husky_card.
If you have further questions, e-mail parking@u.washington.edu.
By Bus
Seattle has one of top public transportation systems in the nation. Many students ride the bus to and from campus and find it to be the easiest way to get around Seattle in the summer.
Students may use their U-PASS on over 50 bus routes serving the University District; approximately 35 buses come right to campus. The U-PASS is valid on all regular Metro, Community Transit and Sound Transit routes anytime, anywhere, as well as for full fare coverage on the Sounder commuter train.
For more information about the U-PASS, see Frequently Asked Questions, visit the U-PASS Web site, e-mail upass@u.washington.edu or call the UW Transportation Office at 206-543-0450.

By Foot
Summer in Seattle is beautiful! Take advantage of the weather by using one of Seattle's numerous walking/biking paths (including the Burke-Gilman/Sammamish River Trail) to commute.
