New Program!
Endorsement in Special Education

The UW College of Education is developing an Endorsement in Special Education program for teachers who are already certified to teach at the middle school and high school levels. Students who take the maximum number of credits per quarter should be able to earn the endorsement (24 credits total) in one year.

This program will be competency-based. Students will create a professional development plan based on his or her competencies. Each quarter, students will enroll in a course that serves the goals outlined in their plans.

Coursework includes field-based/practicum components and individualized mentoring. Other course activities such as presentations and group discussions will be held at the University of Washington, Seattle, on weekends and online to accommodate teachers' work schedule.
