Description
More and more editors are expected to write and edit Web content. This workshop helps prepare students to edit and write for the Web and use online dictionaries and other resources. The workshop will explore how editing and writing for the Web differs from print, and what makes a good Web site and is strongly recommended for those taking the spring course,
Advanced Editing: Non-Book Publishing in the Editing Certificate Program.
Students will learn:
- The basics of web jargon and HTML (Note: This is NOT a HTML course)
- Useful online resources for editors
- How to use the Web effectively for fact-checking and other editing-related tasks

Instructor

Niquette Kelcher specializes in Web content management and currently works for the Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction. She teaches "MS Word for Editors" and "The Web-Savvy Editor" for the Editing Certificate program through University of Washington Extension, of which she herself is a 2004 graduate. She is the author of the "Technology for Editors" blog at www.tech4editors.com. Niquette has a degree in Education from Western Washington University and is a member of the Northwest Independent Editors Guild and Olympia Communicators Group.
